How it works
Liquids are converted with their density from the Swiss Food Composition Database. For flour, sugar and other dry goods there is no Swiss figure, so we use the weight of one cup from the USDA FoodData Central database. Spoons are level metric spoons: 1 tbsp = 15 ml, 1 tsp = 5 ml; a cup here is 2.5 dl. Dry goods vary with how loosely you fill them, so treat these results as estimates. For baking, a scale stays more precise.
